Makeup Haul!

It has been a while since I have made a post regarding me buying makeup which is most probably a really good thing! Well mainly for my wallet, I on the other hand have been missing makeup shopping a lot! I know while in Japan I have the great opportunity to try new and exciting brands, but to be honest none of the brands that I'm interested are sold near me. Also some of the more popular brands are ones that are already readily available back home. Mildly defeats the point which sucks, I have honestly been more interested in skin care! But I will be making a post about that at a later date (but am working on it).

So, the big question! What exactly did I buy recently to make me write a post?

Ta-Da!

Some products will be easily identified (the M.A.C. products) while others are all new and super exciting!!

First off I will talk about the face masks, because lets face it, these are a huge part of skin care in Japan, I can find face masks everywhere, all doing crazy and wonderful things! Also sometimes you can buy face masks with crazy faces on them! The one of the right is exactly that! When I use this I will have to remember to take a photo, because the design on the front will be on the sheet! I also find it interesting that I can buy packs like the one of the left. There is only one package but there are 7 sheets inside! This was the cheaper of the two at around 350 yen which is crazy cheap for face masks!

Next up are some of the products that I was the most excited for, and then slightly confused and saddened by. Now it is no secret that I am a HUGE Sailor Moon fan, and while in Japan I have been on the look out for the Sailor Moon themed makeup! Here are some that I have so far picked up (I'm on the hunt for a powder that is going to be released soon as well!) Two of these came together, which was the green one at the back and the one liner with the pink on pink packaging. The green packing is meant to represent Sailor Jupiter (her symbol is even on the right hand side of the packaging) and as one would expect it is a green liner! Though it is a little different because it is a liquid liner with glitter/shimmer. Although when I first opened this it took me AGES to get the product to the right consistency which at first was very worrying. I have yet to try this on but I am def excited to see how it turns out! The product this came with is kind of a disappointment. It is meant to be a black liner, it is def not a black that I am used to. I don't know how I am going to go with this.

EDIT: (I wrote this post a while ago and so need to add this in. I have since stored all of the liners upside-down for the past week and again tried swatching this on the back of my hand. It is now as black and beautiful as I hoped and expected it to be. I will honestly now most likely go and pick up a backup for collecting purposes as I think I am going to be in love with this liner!)

Next is the last Sailor Moon product, which I am thankfully super excited about! Admittedly I misinterpreted the packaging (I didn't actually READ what was written) and thought this was going to be a white eyeliner, turned out it was brown! Oh well I have been interested in trying a brown liner and from swatching it on my hand it looks promising!

The last product is a 24 hours liner that is also meant to be water proof! A friend said she wanted to try it and I was also interested, so I picked it up and am going to test it out! Thankfully this is a lovely black liner with a SUPER sharp tip which I'm excited about. I feel like this will be great for detail work, I also happen to like a thin line for liner which works out great!

Here are the swatches for the above products, the appear in the order that I talked about them above. As you can see the one second from the right isn't really what you would expect a black liner to be like. I was really upset but I will most prob use this more as a collector piece. (Again the Sailor Moon black liner is now preforming properly! It is now as black as the swatch on the far left thankfully!)

Next up are the M.A.C. products that I was most excited about getting! I haven't gotten anything from M.A.C. in a while even though I have def wanted to because I have been missing using them in my routine. But when I saw that this collection had hit Japan I knew that I wanted something (for the packaging) but I wasn't really sure what I wanted. At first I nothing really jumped out at me but the second time I found some products that I knew I would enjoy.

First up is my first lipglass and I'm super excited. This is a beautiful berry and I am excited to have this in my collection. This is nice on the lips and so far has not bled on me! I am looking forward to being able to wear this on the cloudier days and then also winter next year! (as I miss out this year) This is the shade Hot/ Cold, something I find really interesting is that this is the exact same as the America packaging, it literally just has stickers with Japanese writing and info slapped on the top. I kinda wanted to take off the sticker but didn't want to ruin the packaging!

Here is what Hot/ Cold looks like on me, Sorry the lighting isn't great but this was late at night with artificial lighting. I love how pigmented this is and how easy it is to apply! I am excited to wear this more and am very glad I picked this up. One thing to note is that this was a lot cheaper for me to buy in Japan than back home.

Next up is Steam Heat, another beautiful red to add to my red lip addiction. This is a beautiful blue toned red. I think I will def be getting a lot of wear out of this shade because it is so vibrant and beautiful. I think this is a satin finish, it doesn't really tell me on the bottom like the English packaging does. It def feels like a finish as its lovely and creamy on the lips.

And of course here is the swatch on my lips. I def love this colour and I am so glad that I went and picked it up! I was again glad that this was cheaper than back home! Just looked on the M.A.C. AU site and its $40! Crazy!

Now this is something totally new to me and something that I have so far only tried on the back of my hand in store. This is a product that helps get rid of the dead layer of skin cells that sit on top of your skin. I tried this in the store and it did kinda freak me out, but it totally got rid of every thing that was on the back of my hand and left it looking amazing! I am super excited to try this on my face, it does feel super weird though. I am gonna have to be brave for that part!

Lastly is this travel size of face wipes that I bought to put this in my bag for who knows what might happen. These are AMAZING! I had opened these up on the train home because I was testing the liquid liners that I talked about above. Literally when I wipped this over my hand, me and my friend both went 'oooooh!' because it got rid of EVERYTHING in ONE SWIPE! WHHAAATTT?? I will def be picking up more of these before I leave so I can keep them on me, these will be amazing when I am flying home as I will have an 6-7 hour stop over! These were incredible! These did have a mildly strong scent but nothing offence so that is the main thing. These were also roughly 250 yen for 10 sheets.

Everyday Makeup

Hey! So I thought it would be a good idea to show what the makeup in my May favourites actually looked like on my face! Like I said in that post these are products that I used either daily or so often it was actually a bit crazy.

So first off is a close up of the eye look!

So here is an up close (and kinda scary) picture of my eye look! I am not super confident with liner so that's why I haven't winged it out or something like that. The mascara that I am currently using is the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara and I'm really enjoying that! This is a really simple look and something that takes no time at all to do! I was running late the other day and my full face took me 10 mins! (and I still made it on time to class!)

So here is both eyes done. All that is going on here is the Inglot Eyeliner Gel in #94 with Shiro Cosmetics pigment in Extermination (from the Fullmetal Alchemist Collection) over top. To blend the shadow a little I used a brush that had a bit of Naked from the Urban Decay palette. This just finished of the look and blended everything out nicely. Again its super simple! Just place the pigment all of the lid, add eyeliner and mascara and bam! You're done!

Here is a full face shot, in this photo you can't really see the shadow but that is okay, you can see the over all appearance of the look and that is more what I was trying to achieve in this photo!

Last photo is me trying to look down and get a good shot of the eye look with the rest of my face! I feel that this looks like I have put in a bit more effort than I actually have and I really love it! This is simple and easy to change up. All you would have to do is change the shadow/ pigment and it gives a completely different feel while still being super simple!

So that's it! Super easy and super quick, this has been my go to look and uses most of the products listed in my May Favourites so if you're interested in so more detailed thoughts head on over there and have a look!

I honestly love these products and use them constantly, I am almost running out of some and that makes me really sad as I don't know where I will be able to repurchase them again!

Please let me know if you do anything similar to this and what tips you might have to a speedy makeup application in the morning!

M.A.C Brush Cleanser - Review

This is a product that I have used for a long time, recommended and repurchased. It's the M.A.C. brush cleanser, now I know this is something that a lot of people would think of as unnecessary but I honestly love this product.

Here is what the product looks like, the packaging in nice and simple with the brand and the product name easily found on the product. On the back (which isn't shown) displays, again, the name of the product and then Caution is 5 different languages followed by To Use in those same languages. Although this is a pink product, this doesn't affect your brushes, meaning if you have white haired brushes they wont turn pink from use.

The only main design flaw in this product would be the lid, which is easily changed. The problem is that is a just a pop up lid with a small whole to let the product out. Personally I have never used this method to get the product out. I just take off the top and place a cotton pad on the end and then just quickly flip the bottle to get product out. My sister does use the lip properly but it does look awkward when she is trying to get the product out. I do understand that a lot of people just go out and buy a spritzer top or just wait for another product to empty and just switch the lid over.

REVIEW:
I am currently starting my third bottle of the M.A.C. Brush Cleanser, if that shows how much I love this product! I use this everyday to spot clean my foundation/ concealer brush and my eye shadow brushes. This does a great job in getting 80% - 95% of the makeup from the brush. With my foundation brush it always leaves the brush feel exactly like it did after I washed it, sometimes it even feels 'cleaner'. This product is great at getting eye shadow out of brushes but does at times struggle, there have been times when washing my brushes that I have seen dark shadows rinse out of the brush. So if you use dark colours all the time this is something to be aware of.

It is important to note that I DO NOT treat this product as a 'cleaner', I use this everyday to spot clean my brushes and then roughly once a month I will shampoo my brushes to give them the deep clean that they need (sometimes more regularly depends on how often I use the brushes). I would not suggest using this as a deep clean product, but I LOVE it as a spot cleaner.

RATING: 4/5

PRICE: $20 M.A.C.

Tell me what you think of this product, and also if you know of any cheaper spot cleaning products available in Australia!

See you next time! xx

November Favourites

As this super busy month comes to a close, its time to talk about the products that I have been loving this month! All of the products have been with me for a while, so all of them are still available and none are limited edition.

First up is a lip product, because its the one product that I am constantly changing up in my makeup looks.

This is a M.A.C Lipstick in the shade Girl About Time, it is a Amplified finish and as you can tell it is a well loved lipstick as the bullet shape has changed.

Here is a swatch on the back of my hand, to me this is just a perfect pink and goes with so many looks. This is the lipstick that I use when I'm not sure what I want to wear for the day. I know there are dupes out there of this lipstick, but to me this is still my favourite lipstick and I will always have this in my collection!

Next up is a product that I have been using for a while and have changed how I have been using it.

This would have to be one of my favourite mascaras and its the Accelerator Endless by Rimmel London (this tube has been well loved so some of the name has been rubbed off). This is a mascara that has fibres in it to make your lashes longer, and for me this is most definitely the case! I have used this on both my top lashes and my lower lashes, and I have found that I like it better on my lower lashes. This is because the wand coats all of my lower lashes really easily and gives them that extra length they need to match my top lashes. Also the size of this wand makes it easier to get closer to the lash line because the plastic bristles aren't overly long.

Next is a product that I don't think I could live without anymore, its seriously improved my makeup routine!

The NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eye Shadow Base has become a staple in my makeup routine. I have super oily eye lids and I had heard that this helps keep eye shadow from creasing throughout the day. And it most certainly does that! With the help from my Inglot Gel Eyeliner in White #96 as the base, my eyeshadow can last up to 10 - 12 hours no problem. Which is a huge plus because some days I am honestly wearing my makeup that long, and even longer! This is a great product and I will never go without it!

That last product is something that I rediscovered in my collection and I'm so happy I did!

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Soft Colour Blush in 120 Pink Rose is my last favourite for the month. This is such a beautiful blush, I honestly can't believe I forgot about it! If you are looking for a blush to wear everyday without looking over done, this is the blush you are looking for! This gives the 'flushed' look that I think is just beautiful. I love to wear this on my more natural days or my more relaxed days where I don't want to look too done up. If you're looking for a soft pinky rose colour then this is the blush for you! Another great thing about this is how pigmented it is, granted it can be a little hard to swatch on the back of your hand BUT don't go heavy handed with the blush otherwise you'll just have WAY to much product on your brush. Honestly 1 - 2 taps on the pan is enough, its honestly that pigmented!

These were my favourites for the month, let me know what yours are in the comments below!

See you next time! xx

September Favourites!

The month of September came and went super fast! Sorry that this post is a bit late, I only have excuses to offer so I will just move right along to my favourites for the month!

I'm super sorry to start off a post with some limited edition products, but these are honestly my favourite lips sticks of the month. The two that I have been loving are from M.A.C. and they are Kelly Yum Yum from the Kelly Osbourne collection and Mystical from the Alluring Aquatics collections.

Here is a couple of photos of the packaging, as you can see these lipsticks are in limited edition packaging I love them! My favourite packaging would have to be from the Alluring Aquatics because the rain drops are raised and feel awesome!!
As you can see on the bottom of the packaging it lists the colour name and also what finish the lipstick is. I personally prefer satin and cremesheen because of how they feel on my lips.
This first swatch is of Kelly Yum Yum. This is Candy Yum Yum in a different finish. Candy Yum Yum is a matte finish where as Kelly Yum Yum is a satin finish.
This is a swatch of Mystical, this is one of the first nude shades I have bought from M.A.C., I personally prefer bright shades but once I swatched this I knew I had to have it in my collection.

Again I'm sorry that my first favourites are limited edition lipsticks but these have honestly been my favourites. I have been wearing these so much its a bit ridiculous. I love wearing Kelly Yum Yum with a more neutral look as well as black/ plain clothing so that way the lipstick stands out. I wear Mystical when I am going for a more subtle look. I find that these last really well and they don't feel uncomfortable on my lips.

PRICE: $36 AUD

Next is my favourite powder of all time (so far) and it is the NARS Translucent Crystal Light Reflecting setting powder. I have had this for a few months now and I don't think I could live without it now.

There is a choice between a pressed powder and loose powder if the loose powder isn't for you. I normally use pressed but I was in the mood for something different and decided on the loose! (Important to note that there is NO price difference between the two.)

This is the inside of the product, when you first get the product there is a sticker over the holes to make sure lots of product isn't going everywhere before you even use the product. This is also black when you first use it, but I have used mine so yea.

This is roughly how much I use all over my face. Some might say this is too much which is perfectly fine! I prefer a MATTE finish and so maybe I apply too much, but this is the look I like.

This product isn't completely 'travel friendly' as you can see in this photo, this happened after I had my powder in my bag all day (because I had left it at my rents and mum kindly gave it back to me). Now this is WAY to much product to use, but I stress that you CAN get the product back into the packaging, it's just that you are going to have to spend the time to tap it all back in. The photo representing how much I use was taken after I had spent about 10 - 20 tapping the product back in. So yea, not really travel friendly.

Even though this isn't travel friendly I LOVE this product. It keeps me matte for ages without looking super powdery throughout the day. I also love how this feels on my skin throughout the day, it helps keeping my skin feeling fresh and like I don't have heaps of makeup on. One thing to note is that this does have a strong-ish smell, so be aware of that when using this. I don't mind the smell and just adds to the great time I have using this product!

In Australia to get this in-store you can head over the Mecca Cosmetica which is a stand alone store and sometimes available in Myer.

PRICE: $46 AUD (This has recently went through a price change, it used to be $55 AUD)
LINK: NARS Translucent Powder (Link takes you to Mecca's website)

My last favourites are eye shadows. These have honestly become some of my all time favourite colours in my collection. I use them so often! These products are the NYX Eye Shadows in Sahara and Walnut.

On the left is Sahara and Walnut is on the right.

I love the colour of this. I put apply this to 3/4 of my lid with a white base to make the colour look more pigmented.

One thing I love about the packaging is how it has other languages on the back. (Mainly the Japanese as I can read it and giggle at what it's called in Japan.)

As you can see this is the back of the Walnut shadow.

I love this colour so much! I love to put this in the corner of my eye to create a more smokey look.

I love these shadows soooooo much and the look that I create with these two shadows is really simple but looks great! I have received compliments on these shadows and it just makes me love them more. Walnut is a creamier shadow and you don't need a lot of shadow to get an amazing colour pay off. Sahara takes a bit more to build up but I still love the colour that is gives once the colour has been packed on.

This is a hand swatch of Sahara.
And this is Walnut!

I know that I didn't have many favourites this month, but simple is sometimes better! I will still be using these products this month but I already know some of my favourites for this month! Leave me a comment with your favourites and anything you think that I should rush out and get and try out!

Thanks for reading!

Work (Factory) Makeup Routine

As I have two jobs in two totally different fields, I have two different work routines. The one I will be talking about in this post is basic, easy to do everyday, in a rush or if you're just not in the mood to put on a full face of make-up. I use 7 make-up items in this look and it takes me less then 10 mins in the morning to do. In this post I won't be talking about skin care, but if you're curious about the primers I use in this make-up look, they are the Too Faced Shadow Insurence and the Rimmel London Stay Matte face primer.

I always start my routine with my eyes, this is just in case I get fall out. Granted I don't use shadow in this look, it is just my routine to do eyes first.

To start off with I use the M.A.C. Paint Pot in Groundwork.

As you can see mine is well loved!!

I use only this on my eyes, I work odd hours everyday so I never know how long my shadow needs to last. So to prevent horribly creased eye shadow I just wear this. This product just darkens my lids and makes them look put together. This does still crease on me, but you can't tell unless you get up close because it still covers all of my lids, not leaving a patchy look.

Next for me is eye liner! I am a liquid liner girl and my liquid liner of choice is the Maybelline New York Master Precise in Black.
I LOVE this product and have repurchased it a few times now. It is a brush tip applicator and I love it. It's super black and doesn't flake or smudge during the day.

Next I move onto foundation. I like to do my make-up in a slightly different order so it gives my foundation as chance to set. At the moment my foundation of choice for work is the Revlon Colourstay in 110 Ivory. I have written a review on this which you can view here.

Once I have put my foundation on I go ahead and spot clean my brush. I won't be using it again but I personally can't stand using a brush again without it being spot cleaned. I also do this to give my foundation a chance to set on my skin. I personally don't use concealer everyday because I don't need to, also where I work has pretty poor lighting so you can't really tell anyway!

Now I move back to the eyes. I apply two coasts of mascara, currently I'm using the Maybelline New York Great Lash in Blackst Black.

I like this mascara because it's not over the top and great for daily use. It feels nice on the lashes and gives nice volume and length. The only problem I have with this product is that if I am constantly looking up it will transfer to my brow bone.

On the topic of brows, this is about the time that I do mine! I'm still new to the brow game but the product I use is the Benfit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium.

As I said I am new to the brow game,  mainly because I was having so much trouble trying to find something that suited my hair colour! But I found this and I honestly love it! It's easy to use and if you're like me who isn't used to seeing filled in brows everyday, this is a great product to start on. Another thing I love about this is how easy it is to clean up a mistake, you simply just wipe it away!

After that we move back to the face products and I set my foundation with powder. I have oily skin so this is a must for me. At the moment I am using the Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder in 003 Peach Glow.
I have had this powder for a while but it still looks good!

This is another product that I have repurchased many times in the past. This is a lovely powder that really does help keep you matte if that is the look you are going for!

Lastly we need to add some colour back to our skin and I love to use the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Soft Colour Blush in 120 Pink Rose.

As you can see I give this blush a lot of love!

This is honestly one of my favourite blushes because it is super easy to apply and looks beautiful. I use this blush constantly (as you can tell) and will definitely always have this in my collection!

And here is an image of the final look! And yes I'm in my ever sexy work clothes.

Lastly I finish up with some form of setting spray just to help my makeup last even longer! I love wearing this to work as it makes me feel confident and that I'm protecting it from the environment that I work in.

MAC and Hourglass HAUL

Hello again!

So, I had a 10% discount from Myer that expired today (sorry) and I have always wanted to try some Hourglass products and seeing as Mecca has had a price decrease recently I wanted to try something!
The products that I purchased were M.A.C. Brush Cleanser, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat and the smaller version of the Veil Mineral Primer.
The first product that I will talk about is the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. I went a little bit over board with photos of the packing because on the back there was something that I hadn't seen on others so I thought it would be nice to add.
So, as you can see, this is just the outside of the packing. It was actually a little difficult to take the photos for the Hourglass products because the packing is really reflective!

As you can see, I only got the small one. I realise that it's not as cost effective but I don't know how I will get along with this product so, if I don't like it for what ever reason, I know I haven't wasted the money on the full size. Also, I feel like this will be better for travel as I might be tempted to take it to my parent's to use.

This is the part on the back of the packaging that I was referring to. I apologise that this image is on the side. What I liked it that this product even gives you skin care tips like staying out of the sun (and even what times its best to avoid being in full sunlight, which I thought was a nice addiction). That is why I took a photo to show just how much information is written all over the small box.
Now, because this is the day that I have purchased it, I haven't got any comments on the product other then from the small swatch from in store. As you can tell from the packaging, the product is white, although when I put it on the back of my hand it blended into nothing. It didn't leave any odd feeling on my hand which I am excited about. I did smell the back of my hand and I couldn't smell anything which is another bonus and something I look forward to."
Price: $25 AUD

Next, I will talk about the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat. I didn't really know which product I wanted to try first, besides the primer. But seeing as I am falling more and more in love with blush, I figured this would be the first product I would try!

Again, it was hard to take photos of the packing as it is very reflective! Which is really cool but does make it hard for an amateur like me to photograph.

This blush does have a lovely mirror and the packaging is nice and sturdy, which is reassuring. The clasp is sometimes a little awkward to open, but I think this is more of a good thing because you feel more confident that it wont randomly open in your makeup bag.

Now, this is what the product actually looks like! The lady who served me was very sweet. She went searching through the blushes in stock to find me one that had a nice mix of the colour and the powder on top. I thought that was really nice of her!

Again, I haven't used this product before as I have only purchased this today! Although, I did have a bit of a hard time trying to decide which one I would pick. I was debating between Diffused Heat and Radiant Magenta, but I decided with Diffused Heat because I wanted a shade that I was more comfortable with. Diffused Heat is a more peachy coloured blush. I'm super excited to try this tomorrow as I LOVED how it both looked and felt on my hand in-store.

Price:  $46 AUD

This last product was the only re-purchase of the day! Which is my trusty M.A.C Brush Cleanser. This is the third time that I have bought this. I love this for daily use to clean my foundation brush and my eye shadow brushes (and occasionally my powder brushes). This one will be going to my parent's house as the one there is almost gone. I honestly can't stand using a unclean brush (although this product doesn't deep clean my brushes, it still removes lots of product) so I love to use this. This doesn't leave a smell on the brushes nor does the pink affect the brush. I don't know how this works with other brush brands, but the main ones that I use are Real Techniques.

I know a lot of people complain about the fact that this product doesn't come with a pump. This doesn't bother me because I have never used it with a pump. I just put a cotton pad over the mouth of the bottle and just tip it quickly to get a little of product on it. I can then use both sides of the cotton pad and this is more then enough for my eye shadow brushes, but I do use my foundation brush for a couple of different things so it sometimes takes 2 - 3 cotton pads to remove the majority of the product from the brush. This doesn't bother me because to me this is a pretty cheap product for how long it lasts me! It also counts as apart of the Back-to-M.A.C. program, so that is another bonus.

Price: $20 AUD

Thanks for reading my post and I'll see you in the next one!
